Royal Mail or a courier?
The cheapest Royal Mail option is Tracked 48 (bought online) at £3.75, and the cheapest courier is Evri ParcelShop to ParcelShop at £2.62 – so for a vinyl record, a courier is cheaper by £1.13. Royal Mail delivers to the door and you can hand it in at any Post Office; courier drop-off services are often cheaper but may need the recipient to collect from a shop or locker.
How to pack a vinyl record for posting
- Take the record out of its outer sleeve and place it behind the sleeve to prevent seam splits.
- Use a proper 12-inch record mailer with corner protection.
- Add stiffening board on both sides.
- Mark the parcel 'Do not bend'.
Common mistake: Posting a record in a large padded envelope without stiffening is the fastest way to get a warped or cracked record.
Good to know
Because a 12-inch mailer is wider than 25cm, vinyl is always at least a Small Parcel. Several records in one mailer cost little more than one.
What if yours is heavier?
Weight changes the price, so here is the cheapest option at the same size but heavier weights.

| 600g | £2.62 | Evri ParcelShop to ParcelShop |
