InPost locker sizes: small, medium and large explained
InPost lockers are one of the most convenient ways to send a parcel: you can drop off at any time of day without printing a label. But your parcel has to fit inside a locker compartment, so it's worth knowing the sizes before you book.
InPost locker sizes
| Locker size | Maximum dimensions | Good for | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small (A) | 8 × 38 × 64cm | Clothes in mailing bags, books, phone accessories | about £2.99 |
| Medium (B) | 19 × 38 × 64cm | Shoeboxes, small appliances, bundles of clothes | about £3.49 |
| Large (C) | 41 × 38 × 64cm | Bigger boxes, boots, coats, kitchenware | about £3.99 |
The heaviest parcel InPost lockers accept is 25kg. Prices are approximate and vary with promotions – check InPost's website when booking.
How locker-to-locker works
- Book online or in the app, choosing the parcel size and the recipient's preferred locker.
- You get a code. At the locker, enter or scan the code and a compartment opens.
- Put your parcel in and close the door. There's no label to print for many bookings.
- The recipient gets a code by text or email and collects from their chosen locker.
Locker to door
You can also drop off at a locker and have the parcel delivered to the recipient's door, for a little more.
Tips for fitting your parcel
- Depth is the deciding number. All three lockers are 38 × 64cm; what changes is the depth (8cm, 19cm or 41cm). A mailing bag pressed flat to under 8cm fits the cheapest locker.
- Measure after packing, including any bulges.
- If it doesn't fit, you may be able to change the size in the app, or use an InPost shop drop-off instead.
InPost vs Royal Mail
For parcels that are light but bulky, InPost is often much cheaper than Royal Mail, because the price depends on the locker size, not on Royal Mail's size bands. A parcel just over 2kg that would be a Royal Mail Medium Parcel (from £7.50) can fit a medium or large locker for a few pounds. Use our calculator to compare for your parcel.
