Royal Mail or a courier?
Royal Mail's standard services don't take an item this size, so a courier is the way to go. The cheapest we found is Evri Standard parcel at £9.99.
How to pack a guitar for posting
- Slacken the strings and put padding under them at the neck.
- Use a hard case if you have one, inside a guitar box.
- Fill the space around the headstock and body so nothing can move.
- Mark the box 'Fragile' and 'This way up'.
Common mistake: Royal Mail won't take a parcel this long by standard services. Check the courier's maximum length - many limit parcels to around 1-1.2 metres.
Good to know
Music shops often give away guitar boxes for free. Ask before buying one.
What if yours is heavier?
